MATCH DETAILS:

The French national team was great in qualifying for Euro 2020. Didier Deschamps’ team stood out among Turkey, Albania, Iceland, Andorra and Moldova – the team confirmed the class in practice. In 10 matches, the French suffered only one defeat and won the group with 25 points, leaving Turkey behind by two points, Iceland behind by six points. The “tricolors” developed their success in the League of Nations – in the group the French were together with Portugal, Croatia and Sweden. As a result, the struggle was waged between France and Portugal, in which the Portuguese were weaker – the outcome of the struggle was decided by the victory of the French with a score of 1: 0 in a face-to-face meeting in Lisbon in the penultimate round.

After a failure at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Joachim Lev took up the rejuvenation of the squad. Several seemingly irreplaceable players lost their place in the national team at once, the main one of which is undoubtedly Thomas Müller. We managed to pass the qualification for the European Championship exactly – the Germans won their group, beating the second Netherlands by two points. But in the League of Nations, the German national team was in for a failure. In the group with Spain, Switzerland and Ukraine, the Germans were frankly weak, having won only two victories in six matches and finished the tournament with a negative goal difference. Particularly difficult and in many ways indicative was the 0: 6 defeat against Spain in the last round, which is also now experiencing a generational change and trusts young people a lot.
